Well, I don’t think science itself even has a political agenda, does it?
Science is what it is and what it will always be. Evidence based.

Now, I think sometimes science and philosophy become intertwined, which can cause some confusion, mainly because philosophy deals in “truths” where science deals in facts.
Still, comparing the examples in the article to what the people in the USA are up against from the right, in terms of science fitting a world view, is really nothing.

“Philosophy deals in “truths”“

I don’t think so.

Facts are the truth.

These projects are opposed by environmentalists and other leftists because they believe it will advance development of Canada’s strategic Alberta oil sands, a prospect they loathe.

Yes environmentalists are ALL leftists…and their agenda is to hold back Canada in general, and Alberta in particular.

re: #2 worknhard

Truths, as in the human story. Philosophy deals with the truths of life, as we experience them. Science deals with facts. Sometimes people mix the two up and think philosophical truths are a fact, when they are not.
